  • Golden mean- meant balance of too much and too little in somebody's personality
  • Anther- meant air, wind, fire and water
Socrates
  • Born in 470 BC
  • Died in 399 BC, 71 years old
  • He was a Greek philosopher (western)
  • He is known for his writings
  • Cut stone for a living
  • Socratic method was based on answering questions
  • He served in the Peloponnesian War 
  • He was sentenced to death by drinking Hemlock a liquid substance
  • He owned up to his own crime and was found guilty by some people, others did not think so
Plato
  • Born in 427 BC
  • Died in 348 BC, 82 years old
  • Founded the Academy of Athens
  • Wrote the "apology"
  • He was put to death
